These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tassie Abels app ("the App"), operated by Isle Works ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account and using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old to create your own account. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 13 or older. We reserve the right to terminate accounts found to belong to users under 13 who have not been set up through the family account feature.
Any user may create a managed account for a family member — for example a parent for a child, or one adult for another family member who doesn't use the app themselves. Before creating a managed account, you will be presented with a consent screen summarising what data is collected and how it is used. By ticking the consent checkbox and proceeding, you confirm that:
You are responsible for:
You may not maintain more than one personal account. You may additionally manage accounts for family members linked to your account through the family feature.
A managed account is created and overseen by another user (the "manager") on behalf of a family member — for example a parent for a child, or one adult for another family member who doesn't use the app themselves. As a manager, you are responsible for all content entered into a managed account and for the family member's use of the App. A managed account's summits may appear in the public community — the leaderboard and activity feed — like any other account. It cannot send or receive friend requests or start social interactions itself, and a manager can turn its community visibility off at any time.
The manager may enable or disable a family member's ability to log in independently, and may change a managed account's login password at any time. These controls are provided to help manage appropriate access. Managers are responsible for using these controls appropriately and for respecting the family member's wishes.
A managed account may have up to two managers. A second manager can be invited by an existing manager. Both have equal administrative access to the managed account. When two accounts link as partners, each may optionally share their managed accounts with the other, granting the partner full co-manager access. Managers are collectively responsible for the managed accounts they oversee.
If a manager removes the link to a managed account, the account and all summit data are preserved. The manager retains the ability to restore the link for 30 days. After 30 days, the recovery window expires and the archive entry is deleted. You may not delete your own account while you are an active manager of a managed account, or within the 30-day recovery window of a recently removed managed-account link.
If a managed account has only one manager and that manager removes the link, the managed account will remain active but without any oversight. We strongly recommend ensuring a second manager is in place, particularly where the family member is a child under 13, before removing yourself as the sole manager.
The App allows you to post summit logs, ratings, reviews, comments, likes, optional social media handles, and other content ("Content"). By submitting Content, you:
We do not claim ownership of your Content. You may delete it at any time by deleting your account.
You agree not to:
We reserve the right to remove any Content, modify usernames or profile photos that violate these rules, and suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms. Moderation actions may be taken in response to user reports or at our own discretion.
If you encounter a hiker review, comment, profile, or other content that you believe violates these Terms, you may report it using the in-app reporting tools. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team on a best-efforts basis. We will take reasonable action but cannot guarantee a specific outcome or response timeframe.
For a plain-language summary of what's expected in the community and how reporting, blocking, and moderation work, see our Community Guidelines.
If you grant the App permission to access Apple HealthKit or Google Health Connect, that data is used solely to pre-fill fields in the summit log form. It is processed on-device and not uploaded to our servers. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device's Settings app.
Tassie Abels offers an optional premium subscription ("Tassie Abels Premium") available as an annual in-app purchase. Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their respective terms and refund policies. All purchases are final unless required otherwise by applicable law or the platform's refund policy.
Your subscription remains active until it expires or is cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period. To cancel, manage your subscription through your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Tassie Abels is a summit tracking and logging app. It is not a navigation tool and should not be relied upon for safety decisions in the field. Summit conditions, access routes, and weather can change without notice.
Always:
We accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage arising from hiking activities undertaken in connection with information displayed in the App.
We make reasonable efforts to ensure summit data (elevations, names, locations) is accurate, but we do not warrant its completeness or correctness. If you notice an error, please use the Send Feedback feature in the App.
All App content not submitted by users — including design, code, graphics, and summit data — is owned by Isle Works or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from it without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the App. You may delete your account at any time via Profile → Account → Delete Account, subject to the restrictions described in Section 3 regarding active managed accounts. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed.
To the extent permitted by law, Isle Works is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Tasmania, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tasmania.
